Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi ‘s health is improving and the 92-year-old is expected to be discharged from hospital soon, according to his office. The update on Friday came a day after the country’s first democratically elected president  fell ill , prompting rumours across Tunisia about his death.  Essebsi h ad already been briefly hospitalised last week. “His state of health is improving,” presidential spokeswoman Saida Garrach told Tunisian public radio. “He had a meeting with the defence minister at about 7:45am (06:45 GMT), and they exchanged information on the situation in the country,” she said. The spokeswoman gave assurances that Essebsi, who has been in power since 2014, should be released from hospital “soon”, without providing further details. Kevin Durant Rumors: Nets Aren’t ‘Front-Runners or Favorites’ to Land Star in FA

Image
Andrew D. Bernstein/Getty Images ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday the Golden State Warriors , Los Angeles Clippers , New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets were the four teams on free-agent forward Kevin Durant ‘s potential destination list. However, per Ian Begley of SNY.tv, the Nets are not the “front-runners or favorites” to land the 10-time All-Star, who averaged 26.0 points on 52.4 percent shooting last season. Durant suffered a ruptured Achilles during the NBA Finals, and he is expected to miss all of next year . Still, the four-time scoring champion has been a dominant force for his entire 12-year career, landing on nine All-NBA teams and winning the 2013-14 NBA MVP. Each destination on the 30-year-old’s reported list is an intriguing option. First, the Warriors have been Durant’s home for three years, and he’s won two NBA Finals and made a third during that span. He can also receive a five-year max deal from the Dubs, an option that his other suitors cannot ...

Execs Say Ezekiel Elliott Must Be Top Priority for Dallas over Prescott, Cooper

Image
Joe Robbins/Getty Images The question was a simple one: Of the three Cowboys stars in quarterback Dak Prescott, running back Ezekiel Elliott and receiver Amari Cooper , which one do you prioritize paying, since it’s difficult (virtually impossible) to pay all three top-dollar? Three team executives were asked what they’d do, and their answers, frankly, were both surprising and unified. The answers also showed that while the NFL still values quarterbacks above all others, there are a handful of players  at other positions who are viewed by some teams as equally potent. The arguments from these executives went like this: Prescott is good, and talented, but he won’t ever be great (their view, not mine). Cooper is good, and talented, but it’s still easier to find receivers with his capabilities in the draft, and they’d be cheaper (their view, not mine). Elliott is seen as different. To these executives, and others, he is potentially a transformational back. One said he alr...

Tillerson: Kushner conducted diplomacy behind my back

Former US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accused President Donald Trump ‘s son-in-law of conducting diplomacy behind his back when he was in the administration, leading to a number of embarrassing incidents. Tillerson, who was fired by Trump in March 2018, told the House Foreign Affairs Committee last month about several episodes involving Jared Kushner, according to a transcript of a congressional hearing released on Thursday. The former top US diplomat and CEO of ExxonMobil happened to be dining in the same restaurant while Kushner and Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray were having a private meal. Tillerson had not been informed his Mexican counterpart was in the US capital. He said he “could see the colour go out” of the Mexican official’s face when Tillerson greeted them at their table with a smile. “And I said: ‘I don’t want to interrupt what y’all are doing’,” Tillerson recalled. “I said ‘Give me a call next time you’re coming to town.’ And I left it at...
